Leadership Roles
Lead Researcher (Fully Functional Space Ecosystem Initiative)
VicillionWanjiku Chebet Kanjumba is fronting brand-new research into the architecture of a Fully Functional Space Ecosystem (FFSE). A unified, scalable framework designed to sustain human civilization across Earth, the Moon, Mars, and the Asteroid Belt. This research is currently in the conceptual development phase and represents a long-term vision for multi-planetary infrastructure. The FFSE framework builds upon foundational spaceport development research including the Omega Spaceport and INCS projects, applying lessons learned from terrestrial space infrastructure to off-world habitation challenges. Recognizing that humanity's multi-planetary future depends deeply on interconnected systems, therefore, she investigates the integration of four domains: infrastructure, in-situ resource utilization (ISRU), biological life support, and interplanetary governance. Through this research, she is exploring the engineering of the technical foundations of off-world habitation, but also reviewing the policy, sustainability, and human-centered principles that will define humanity’s future among the stars. This initiative is intentionally visionary and conceptual, providing a structured framework that researchers, policymakers, and industry partners can use to explore the trade‑offs of building a truly multi‑planetary civilization.
Lead Project Strategist (The Omega Spaceport)
VicillionAs the Lead Project Strategist of the Omega Spaceport (the Next‑Generation Equatorial Commercial Spaceport), Wanjiku spearheads all strategic, technical, and operational aspects of this transformative infrastructure initiative. Anchored in Kenya, the Omega Spaceport will leverage the nation’s geographic advantage near the Equator to maximize launch efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and built to address the growing gap in privately-operated equatorial launch infrastructure for emerging commercial markets across Africa, Asia, and Oceania. Under her leadership, the project integrates cutting-edge aerospace engineering, sustainable design principles, and inclusive policy frameworks to position Kenya as a global hub for commercial spaceflight. Wanjiku’s work focuses on building the technical, economic, and policy foundations that could make such a spaceport viable over the coming decades in the new space economy.*
Lead Research Architect (Integrated Network for Commercial Spaceports)
VicillionWanjiku serves as the Lead Research Architect for the Integrated Network for Commercial Spaceports (INCS), a visionary framework designed to interconnect commercial spaceports worldwide into a cohesive, interoperable ecosystem. Through INCS, she is developing standardized protocols for launch logistics, regulatory harmonization, data sharing, and mission coordination across diverse geopolitical and technical environments. Her work emphasizes scalability, equity, and resilience, ensuring that both established and emerging spacefaring nations can participate meaningfully in orbital access and space-based services. The INCS model, first presented by Wanjiku at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2025 in Australia (doi: 10.52202/083092-0020), represents a paradigm shift toward collaborative, networked space infrastructure that supports the rapid growth of the global commercial space sector. The INCS framework has been formally published at the AIAA SciTech Forum 2026 (doi: 10.2514/6.2026-0935), cementing Wanjiku's role as a leading voice in the governance and standardisation of global commercial launch infrastructure.
Co-Founder, CEO, and Chairwoman
VicillionAt Vicillion, Wanjiku holds the dual role of CEO and Chairwoman. She acts as a project manager, leads strategic direction, oversees operations, and fosters a culture of innovation and ingenuity. Under her leadership, Vicillion has focused on aerospace infrastructure research, spaceport development consulting, and STEM education initiatives. The company serves as the institutional home for the Omega Spaceport research project and related space infrastructure studies. Her mission through Vicillion is to enhance human ingenuity in technology, make history, and make a positive, unforgettable impact.
Functional Lead
Gulfstream AerospaceWanjiku coordinatesd and managed a Completions Certification group by streamlining processes (planning, coordination, performance of design, analysis, and liaison engineering) and worked on Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approvals for aircraft delivery. She demonstrated continuous teamwork by working with outfitting organizations such as electrical, mechanical, operations, structures, quality, and other certification teams as required.
Senior Resident Advisor
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical UniversityWanjiku demonstrated her leadership and conflict management capabilities as a Senior Resident Advisor. Here, she provided support to other Resident Advisors in areas of programming, community development, and overall leadership development. She served as a role model and leader among Resident Advisors and her residents by demonstrating initiative, character, and commitment. Her knack for conflict management was honed during this time, resolving issues among residents, and even participating in the interviewing process for new applicants for the Resident Advisor position.
Treasurer and Co-Founder
Riddle Chapter (National Residential Honor Society) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical UniversityAs a co-founder and treasurer, she had the opportunity to shape the society's direction from the ground up, building up the foundation. She was responsible for financial planning and oversight, and under her fiscal stewardship, the society managed its funds effectively to support various initiatives.
